All the best, and All. Blaq. Everything.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BLAQ FOR PLAYBOOK™ V1.1 SUBMITTED TO BLACKBERRY® APP WORLD™, BRINGING SEARCH, LISTS, MULTI-ACCOUNT SUPPORT AND MORE
NEW YORK/PITTSBURGH (July 8, 2011) — Blaq for PlayBook™, the first full-featured Twitter client for the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet, just got a whole lot more interesting.
On Thursday, July 7th, Kisai Labs and Baselime submitted a version 1.1 update of Blaq for PlayBook™ for review and entry into BlackBerry® App World™.
When Blaq for PlayBook™ first launched on May 30th, 2011, it did so without a ton of fanfare or pageantry. There was no feature in App World™, no extensive coverage with major online tech publications and for the first 48 hours or so after approval, Blaq wasn’t even attainable in the Social Networking section of App World™.
However, in the first 5 hours after launch, Blaq for PlayBook™ was already the top paid tablet app in the store. Within the first 24 hours, it sat atop all other paid apps in all of BlackBerry® App World™, PlayBook™ and BlackBerry® smartphone apps included.
In its initial 1.0 release, Blaq was the first app for the PlayBook™ to offer even a moderately full Twitter experience with photo upload capability, in-app web and media previews, real-time streaming and more, but it was still far from its full potential. It was released when it was to finally give PlayBook™ users a suitable alternative to resorting to the mobile web for Twitter.
Now, things are getting serious. The competition is heating up, and its time for Blaq for PlayBook™ to turn that heat up even higher once again.
With Blaq for PlayBook™ v1.1, users can now add multiple accounts and switch between them effortlessly. With just a swipe of a finger from the top bezel, users are presented with a menu (soon to contain a plethora of customization and settings options) where they can tap their avatar and select from any of their added Twitter accounts quickly and easily.
Version 1.1 also brings trending topics, list functionality and a robust search capability on par with the best of the best in mobile Twitter clients.
Take all that, together with a brand-new in-app notification system and countless other cosmetic changes, and Blaq for PlayBook™ stands to sit comfortably at the top perch in BlackBerry® tablet Twitter experience for a while to come.
The v1.1 update should be available in BlackBerry® App World™ as soon as today, Friday, July 8th, pending approval.
As always, Blaq for PlayBook™ is just $1.99 for new users and can be found in App World™ here.

start off by saying its a great app , but im having trouble opening the settings on my blackberry playbook i tried deleting the app and re_installing it n still doesnt work .. let me know if this will be fixed soon
I will echo the same comment….settings button is not working…
Thanks,
KM
same as above.. the settings button is not working for me as well. i hope you can give us feedback as soon as possible.
thanks!
Same here. The settings button is broken. Clicking it does nothing at all. Please investigate.
Since the latest update (last week?) it takes forever to load the messages (left side of the screen) after opening Blaq on my Playbook. The righthand side of the screen loads in a normal fashion. Are there more users experiencing this problem?
Aha! When installing Blaq 1.5 via the normal upgrade process of Playbook Appworld the earlier version was not removed. So when I started Blaq from my Favourites page, I was in fact still using the older version. The new shortcut for 1.5 (with a different tile) was available at my All page; once I started Blaq from that shortcut I got version 1.5 without problems – in fact I now can use the Settings button for the first time as well. Again – am I the only one with the problem that the earlier version wasn’t automatically removed?
Fabulous app on the Playbook. A few minor issues though. Other twitter apps don’t show your tweets from the playbook as your last tweet. They are shown in the timeline. Neither Twitter on My BLackberry or the Web have counted any tweets sent from Blaq either. Lastly i wish i could alter the size of the text in the Tweet box. Its tiny and i can hardly see what i’m typing. Yet almost none of that half the screen is being used. Looking forward to further updates.
Can u include a way to view favorites please, i cant find any
BTW awesome app
Hi – can I disable the HTML preview? I find it rather pointless – I would rather just link out to the browser. And I haven’t figured out what the gesture is to do that (trial and error). Can we change the theme? It is a bit dull.
The trends feature doesn’t work anymore. It did when I first got the app but now it’s just a blank screen.
I can’t seem to work the search function. Since updating to playbook 2.1 I can’t save search categories and the trending section doesn’t work. Any thoughts how to solve the problems?
Getting err 2032, what’s up?
Dying to purchase your app… looks fantastic! BUT bumping into a PayPal authorisation problem all the time. Error # 579024. My Paypal accounts seems okay though..
Can you help?
Website hasn’t been updated since 2011, hope you guys aren’t getting overwhelmed!
Some things re: v1.8.7.2170:
- “tweet from..” is excessively annoying and obnoxious, you mentioned this would be a toggle option last year, but the last two updates didn’t have this
- Timeline is often out of order, sometimes newer posts are under days of older posts, other times the whole thing is in random order
- the details pane doesnt come up, that is to say, the list of tweets, followers and followees. (the trending stuff started working again in this version though!)
- Switching accounts, then tweeting, puts the tweet on the previous account, then it actually switches.. Have to go to mobile twitter site to correct (to avoid it while switching accounts again) and/or restart the app after switching accounts
Great product, despite the occasional bugs
